Ford have been in the news recently with the announcement that they will be joining forces with a Retainagroup car security specialists to design and manufacture anti theft devices for catalytic converters.

A fully functioning cat is worth around one hundred pounds and as converters are all formulaic in design and appearance it is hard to prove which has come from where, so the 'black' market is open and criminals are making money with stolen converters.
The anti theft device can be easily fitted to any Ford vehicle and works by using a unique seven digit code which will allow anyone to identify the vehicle the car has been removed from. So a garage owner or second hand dealer only needs to call the number on the catalytic converter and they instantly can find out where it has come from.
